Not especially designed for Micro$oft, neither Netscape nor Java (out of the dedicated page), but created under Geos with genuine tools !

Foreword

These site is mostly written in french. However, I know how frustrating it is not being able to understand anything to what seems to be interesting (I hope my pages are interesting for at least some of you). This page is a kind of introduction and skeleton of what is written in french. Please feel free to ask for more information about the topics presented here.

Kind of a resume

Until the mid 2000s, I have been trying to find clever solutions in the field of industrial real-time communications, in particulare with USB, Firewire or even more classical fielbusses, like FIP, CAN, etc. I also worked on software architectures and sometimes doing real hard work, like porting uClinux on a Coldfire board, for example.
I worked previously as a software and research engineer (doing more software than research...) at the IBM/SWS AD-Tools Lab. (formerly CGI Informatique) since July 1994 and I had also the same kind of position before, for 3 years, in a small start-up company called EURO-CSL.

IBM VisualAge Pacbase

Pacbase was an older-than-we-were-but-more-powerful-than-all-our-toys-together CASE tool (for mainframes, minis, OS/2, NT and Unix) generating every kind of COBOL that could be compiled (well, as far as I know the COBOLs). The WorkStation was the client-side Windows-based tool for designing (PACDESIGN) and developing (PACBENCH) main business applications.
My job is to develop and maintain this bunch of Windows code, written partly in Objective-C and partly in Visual C++. I was the initiator of the use of Visual C++, but do not ask me what I think of Microsoft development tools.
We ported all the code to a 32-bits compiler and moved later to Java. (fashion, fashion !)
The WorkStation Development team is ISO 9000 certified, as well as all parts of CGI/IBM AD Tools Lab.

I was previously a Project Team Leader at the European Telecommunication Standards Institute. We designed to so-called VEMMI standard which defines a protocol for the future of telematics in Europe. It has run into many problems because of the rise of Internet in Europe and the later definition of JAVA language and its platform-independent virtual machine; You just guessed that these are the topics VEMMI is partly covering...

I used to write my PhD, which was harder than dealing with 2E4096-bits compilers (tell my wife about computers and research, and you will see). Now, it is over, I am now a happy "doctor" !

This work is about the Human-Machine Interfaces and communication protocols, multimedia and real-time. These are not so trivial topics.
